You can color grade in a browser without a dedicated graphics card. The useful question is what you can deliver. Luttie exports a graded MP4 as well as a LUT; fylm.ai accepts video to develop a grade and sends that grade to other software; Flixier, invideo and Leumos offer video output through different workflows. Higgsfield Color Grading and Dehancer Online focus on photographs. A streamed desktop workstation is another route. Compare video input, final format, where footage is processed, grading controls and what the free plan actually delivers.
If you need a finished video, a LUT alone will not deliver it. If a contract forbids uploading source footage, a cloud render may be unsuitable even when its grading controls fit. If you need shot-by-shot control, applying one grade across a clip is a different workflow from reviewing a cut sequence. Choose by deliverable, not a fixed category
These workflows overlap. A tool can export both a LUT and a graded video, and video input does not by itself mean video output.
LUT workflows produce a grade you apply in an editor. ColorToy, Luttie and fylm.ai offer this path. Luttie also exports MP4; fylm.ai can use a video file to develop the look and has Premiere sync on a paid plan.
Photo workflows return a graded image. Higgsfield Color Grading and Dehancer Online are presented this way on the reviewed pages.
Video editors with grading combine timeline editing and video export. Flixier publishes filters, adjustment sliders and per-channel gamma. invideo advertises reference guidance, wheels, curves, qualifiers, LUTs and scopes as well as editing.
Shot-oriented grading and export is Leumos's workflow: detect cuts, match a selected shot to a still reference, refine shots with creative controls and scopes, then export a graded video. Luttie's graded MP4 is another browser video-output path for a clip; the two workflows should be compared against the job rather than treated as mutually exclusive categories.
Stream a workstation if you need a desktop application through a browser. Services such as Vagon rent a remote machine on which you run your chosen editor.
The question comes up more this year because color.io shut down on 31 December 2025 after Apple acquired its developer, and both the apex domain and www failed to resolve in the August 15, 2026 check. What browser grading needs from graphics hardware
WebGL is a GPU API, and many browser grading previews use graphics hardware that is integrated into the processor. A laptop without a dedicated card with its own memory still has graphics hardware. Whether integrated graphics are adequate depends on the source file, preview and export path.
The reason a still preview can feel responsive is arithmetic. A 1080p frame is about two million pixels and a 4K frame about 8.3 million. Applying curves, wheels or a 3D LUT to a frame is less work than decoding, grading and encoding a complete clip. Actual speed depends on the device and browser.
Video adds decode and encode work. A supported H.264 or HEVC path may use hardware acceleration; camera codecs and browser support vary, and software decoding can strain an older machine. Test a representative source file before committing a long job.
Memory matters too: long, high-resolution video can require many decoded frames and temporary export data. Some tools render on a server; others, including Luttie's published MP4 path, describe processing in the browser. The privacy and performance tradeoff therefore depends on the specific tool and export route.
Server rendering can move the delivery render off your machine: upload the footage, render on the server, and download the result. Browser preview and controls still use local resources, so device capability matters alongside upload speed and processing time. LUT workflows that can also take video
If you finish in an NLE, a LUT can move the look into that edit. Check whether the same service also exports graded video.
Luttie
Luttie lets you select a representative frame from an MP4, MOV or WebM, build a look, preview that grade across the clip and export a graded H.264 MP4 in Chrome or Edge. Its video-export page says the export is processed locally and includes the visible grade and film effects frame by frame. It also offers .cube LUT export for applying a look in an NLE. The published grading controls include RGB curves, color wheels and HSL secondaries; its page also names grain, halation and bloom.
The editor can be used free. Luttie's free-video guide says a signed-in user can render a short watermarked preview; full video export is a Pro feature. Its pricing page also places LUT export, raw support, film effects and AI grading in Pro. Check the current plan and browser requirements before promising a client a clean MP4. The video-export page has conflicting statements about audio, so audio handling needs a real export test.
Choose Luttie if a local browser MP4 or an NLE-ready LUT fits the job. Its workflow builds a grade from a representative frame and applies it across the video; test moving scenes and mixed lighting before relying on one look for every shot.
fylm.ai
fylm.ai describes itself as a browser-based raw photo editor and LUT creator, but its home page says you can use stills or videos to establish a grade. Its pricing page specifically describes playing an MP4 to create that grade. Published outputs center on 3D LUTs, XMP profiles, Capture One styles and graded images. The home page also advertises one-click grade sync to Premiere Pro, with the extension listed on a paid plan. Those pages do not establish a browser-rendered final video export.
Its public plan page lists a free tier that saves graded images; LUT creation and the Premiere extension are listed on paid tiers. Check the current tier details for the specific output and collaboration workflow you need.
Choose fylm.ai for look development from stills or video, especially when the deliverable is a LUT, graded image or a grade synced into Premiere. ColorToy
The August 15, 2026 review described ColorToy as a free, no-account path: load an MP4 or JPG frame, grade it with local WebGL processing and download a .cube LUT. That review found the site reachable over plain HTTP with an invalid HTTPS certificate. Current access, security and data-transfer behavior were not rechecked; do not put restricted client footage into an unverified site.
It may fit a quick LUT job if its current access and security meet your requirements. Confirm supported inputs and project saving on the live product before relying on either.
Photo output and film looks
These reviewed pages focus on grading a photograph and returning an image. Check the specific app if your task is video.
Higgsfield Color Grading
The August 15 review of Higgsfield's Color Grading app described PNG, JPG and WebP input, image output, controls for temperature, exposure, contrast, saturation, highlights, sharpness and film grain, and a WebGL preview. Its page could not be rechecked on September 27, so current access, free limits and output options need confirmation.
Based on that dated description, consider it for a single image look. Do not assume it supplies the video delivery or reusable grade your project needs.
Dehancer Online
Dehancer's Online page presents a browser photo workflow: upload a photo, apply a film preset, export the result. It advertises up to three free photos a day. The earlier review recorded jpeg, heic, tiff and dng input and Dehancer's film effects; verify the current format list and paid plan if those details decide the job.
Dehancer also sells plugins for video workflows, which should not be confused with this Online photo page. Use the online app for photo film looks; check a separate video product if the deliverable is motion.
Video editors with grading controls
Flixier
Flixier is a browser video editor with a timeline and cloud rendering. Its color help page describes filters and adjustments for brightness, vibrance, contrast, saturation and hue rotation, plus red, green and blue gamma and a blend color. Its video grading page describes importing footage, grading on the timeline and exporting a rendered video.
Those published controls are useful for quick correction and a broader edit. If your source is S-Log3, V-Log or N-Log, confirm the exact input transform you need before judging a creative grade: per-channel gamma alone is not a camera log and gamut conversion. The reviewed help page does not establish whether another Flixier path supports a particular LUT or transform. Flixier offers free and paid access; check its current export allowance and watermark terms before choosing a delivery plan. It suits a creator who wants video editing and color adjustments in one browser timeline. Confirm source-codec and log-workflow support with a representative file.
invideo
invideo's color-grading page advertises a multitrack video timeline, reference-image guidance, wheels, curves, qualifiers, LUTs and scopes alongside video export. That is a broader published grading set than simple sliders. The page calls entry free, but it does not establish the clean final-video limits for a specific plan; check export terms and try a representative clip before delivery. These are vendor claims, not a hands-on quality comparison.
Shot-oriented grading with finished-video export
Leumos AI
Leumos AI is my own product, so this is a workflow disclosure, not an independent ranking. It is live with Free, Lite and Studio plans. You grade individual shots and export the finished video. See Introducing Leumos for the product overview and the online grading tool for the footage-to-export path.
Import footage and detect its cuts, choose a shot and a still-image reference, run a reference match, and inspect it in motion. Refine the result with creative and AI-assisted grading controls. You can copy a grade to another shot as a starting point, then review and adjust it or run a separate reference match. Reference match uses a still image for the selected shot. Match shots uses a graded shot to match the rest of the edit; review and refine the sequence before export.
For shot review, use the built-in waveform and vectorscope, then use the dedicated Skin tone control to automatically select skin, inspect and refine its mask, and adjust it separately from the overall grade.
For log video, choose the input transform for the camera's encoding and gamut before judging the creative grade. Named options include Sony S-Log3/S-Gamut3.Cine and Panasonic V-Gamut/V-Log. The browser preview and controls still use your device. Scene detection and reference matching send material to the server, and export uploads original footage for server rendering. Cloud footage storage is available under plan-dependent account pools, including Free; check the current plan details and privacy policy before importing restricted footage. Cloud rendering does not mean the workflow works offline.
Export resolution, bit depth, and ProRes 422 HQ availability depend on your plan; see the current plan details. The workflow returns graded video; use an editor with the required interchange or RAW tools if your delivery depends on those. Read the workflow FAQ, then try the Free plan with a representative shot and inspect the result before a client deadline.
The fifth option: stream a real workstation
Vagon, Shadow and similar services rent you a machine in a data center and stream its screen to your browser. You install DaVinci Resolve on it, or Premiere, and work at whatever speed the rented hardware runs at. Your laptop is a monitor and a keyboard.
Remote workstations charge for compute time and may charge separately for storage. Check the current machine, storage and billing terms before starting a long grade.
This route fits a job that requires a particular desktop editor or plugin. Upload time, interactive latency and rental time all matter. If your goal is to avoid Resolve rather than run it remotely, grading log footage without DaVinci Resolve covers other paths.

Picking by the job in front of you
If you want a LUT to apply in Resolve, Premiere or Final Cut, compare Luttie, fylm.ai and ColorToy against the file you need and the plan that permits export. If you want a graded MP4 from the browser, Luttie, Flixier, invideo and Leumos publish video-output routes. Luttie describes local clip processing; Flixier uses cloud rendering; Leumos uploads originals for server export and offers per-shot refinement. A streamed workstation lets you run a desktop editor remotely. Test your source codec, footage policy and final format before choosing.
An event or multi-camera shoot may need many distinct corrections before one creative look makes sense. A LUT developed from one frame may need adjustment on each camera and lighting setup. In Leumos, the reference match runs on one selected shot, and Match shots then carries one graded shot's look across the rest of the edit; matched and copied shots still need review. Mixed light on a face is a reason to inspect skin and motion carefully in whichever tool you choose.
Settle one thing before choosing any of them: how many separate grades the job actually needs. Work that looks like forty individual grades is often one normalization, one balance pass and one look, which changes the group you need. Can I color grade in a browser without a graphics card?
Often, yes. Integrated graphics can run browser previews without a dedicated card. Video decode and export capability varies by codec, browser and device. A server render can move delivery work off your machine, while a browser-local export uses your device. Try the source codec and a short export before planning a full job.
What is the best free browser color grading tool?
It depends on the output. For a graded video, Leumos advertises Free 1080p 8-bit export without a watermark; Luttie offers a short watermarked preview free after sign-in and puts full video export in Pro. Flixier and invideo advertise free entry, but check their current clean-export limits. For a photo, Dehancer Online advertises three free edits a day. The August 15 ColorToy review described a free LUT path over plain HTTP with an invalid HTTPS certificate; that state was not rechecked. The Higgsfield free limit was also not rechecked.
Is there a browser tool that grades a whole video timeline?
Yes. Leumos combines selected-shot Reference match with Match shots for the rest of the edit. Grade a shot, match the sequence to it, review and refine, then export finished video. Export uploads original footage for server rendering and output options depend on plan. Flixier and invideo also publish timeline editing and video export. Luttie publishes a graded MP4 path from a clip built around a representative-frame grade. Pick according to shot control, footage policy and deliverable.
What replaced color.io after it shut down?
No single product reproduces every workflow. color.io shut down on 31 December 2025 after Apple acquired its developer; the August 15 DNS failure was not rechecked. Luttie, fylm.ai and ColorToy provide LUT paths, while Luttie also publishes MP4 export and fylm.ai offers paid Premiere sync. For a finished video, compare their supported route with Flixier, invideo, Leumos or a remote desktop editor against your footage and delivery needs.
Why does my log footage still look flat in a browser editor?
A missing or incorrect input transform is one possible cause. Normalizing log footage requires the transform for the source encoding and gamut; brightness and contrast sliders do not replace it. In Leumos, choose the named input transform for your source before judging the look, and avoid applying it again if the video is already normalized. For other tools, verify the exact camera transform or LUT path they support. A help page listing sliders cannot prove the absence of another conversion path.
